Karate for Adults

Anyone can learn to punch and kick. Shoshin Karate brings a unique combination of teaching traditional Okinawan karate with knowledge and history that is seldom found in other schools.

Shoshin Karate takes a different approach to teaching karate. While maintaining all the traditional practices of teaching karate, we provide a deeper understanding of the “how’s and why’s” combined with a deep knowledge of karate heritage and history.

Students will not only learn the basic techniques and functions of traditional karate movements and skills, but will also explore the applications and hidden meanings as well as learning the history behind this mysterious and often misunderstood art.

What makes us different?

Traditional Karate

Karate has undergone many modifications over the past century. Our goal is to honor traditional karate while still maintaining its practicality in a modern age. Not only will you learn the how’s of karate but also the why’s.

Self Defense

As society changes, so do the methods needed to keep yourself and those you care about safe. Shoshin karate expands the true meaning of the art and provides the skills, tools, and mindset to handle a situation when you need it most.

Knowledge

Shoshin’s owner/instructors possess over 80 years of combined experience. In addition to basic techniques, kata, and drills, our instructors discuss the origins and intentions of the techniques, exploring other styles of martial arts.
